Your first Lagree class: how to prepare
A first Lagree class always raises the same questions: how to book, what to wear, what to expect once on the machine. This guide answers them one by one, in the order they come up. It is based on how RYTHM Lagree Studio actually works, in the Carmes district of Toulouse.
Booking your trial class
Everything starts in the Xplor Active app. You create your account, enter the studio code Rythmlagree, then choose your class. The trial class costs €30, valid 2 weeks. If you would rather give yourself two tries, the two-trial-class option costs €50, valid 1 month: the method really makes sense on the second class.
Classes are spread over lunchtime and evening on weekdays and Saturday morning; they are shown in the schedule on the home page. This schedule changes as the studio fills up; the app always shows the available places. You can also leave your details in the call-back form on the site: the studio will get back to you, in English if you prefer.
- Download Xplor Active from the App Store or Google Play.
- Create your account and enter the studio code Rythmlagree.
- Select the trial class and your class time.
- Confirm: your place on one of the six machines is booked.
What to wear, what to bring
Close-fitting sportswear and grip socks, essential on the Micro Pro: the studio lends them if you do not have any. Bring something to drink too. Why both matter on the machine, and what is best avoided: the article on what to wear covers it in detail.
Arrive ten minutes early. This time is not a formality: it is set aside for getting to grips with the machine with the coach, before the class starts.
The first ten minutes: getting to grips with the Micro Pro
The Micro Pro is the compact machine from Lagree Fitness, designed for the Lagree method: the article on the Micro Pro describes it in detail. It consists of a carriage mounted on rails, springs that set the resistance, and handles. At RYTHM, six machines are installed, so six people per class at most, one per machine.
Before the class starts, the coach shows you how to get on the carriage, where to place your hands and feet, how to add or remove a spring. The resistance is set on each machine: a beginner and an experienced practitioner follow the same class, each at their own level. Ask your questions at that point, that is what the time is for. The coach speaks English and can run the class in English: say so when you arrive.
During the 50 minutes
A Lagree class does not look like a classic group class. No jumps, no shocks: the movements are slow, continuous, under constant tension, and there is no rest between exercises. Every movement is performed smoothly on the moving carriage of the Micro Pro.
The coach leads the class and corrects every position, one by one, on six machines at most. The four pillars of the method guide the work: rhythm, contraction, precision and control. You are looking neither for speed nor for the number of repetitions, but for the intensity of every moment.
You will probably get off the carriage with legs a little less steady than when you got on: that is the very principle of a muscle brought to fatigue, described in the next section.
What to expect physically
The first sign always surprises: the muscles shake. It is the signal that a muscle held under tension is nearing fatigue, and that is precisely what the method looks for. This shaking is normal; it signals neither a mistake nor weakness. The coach will remind you.
Soreness is possible in the days that follow, especially in deep muscles you rarely use. It eases with regularity. Most people feel a difference in strength and posture after five to ten classes, at two a week. Do not judge the method on a single class: the two-trial-class option exists for that.
One point of care before booking. If you are recovering from an injury, if you are pregnant or if you are on treatment, talk to your doctor or health professional first, then tell the coach before the class. The exercises can be adapted. This guide is no substitute for medical advice.
Getting to RYTHM, in Carmes
Ahead of the opening of its own studio in the district, RYTHM Lagree Studio runs its Lagree classes in Toulouse at JBM Sports, 32 rue du Languedoc, 31000 Toulouse, on six machines. Carmes metro station, on line B, is 100 metres away. Classes have been running since Monday 14 September 2026.
A question before booking? The studio answers on 06 48 78 20 11 (+33 6 48 78 20 11 from abroad), by email at Rythm@lagreetoulouse.fr, and posts its news on Instagram, @rythmlagree. The form on the site also lets you ask for a call back.
Frequently asked questions
What is the trial class like?
The trial class lasts 50 minutes, in a group of six people at most, one per Micro Pro machine. Getting to grips with the machine happens in the ten minutes before, with the coach, who then corrects every position during the class.
What happens if I cannot keep up?
Nothing serious. The resistance is set on each Micro Pro and the coach adapts the movements to your level. Muscle shaking is part of the method; it does not signal failure.
Can I bring someone to a first class?
Nothing rules it out: each of you books a trial class in Xplor Active with the code Rythmlagree and chooses the same class time, within the six places, one per machine. Book early.
