The method and the class

What we get asked most

What exactly is Lagree?

Lagree is a strength-training method practised on a variable-resistance machine. The movements are slow and continuous, under constant tension, which takes the muscle to fatigue without ever putting impact on the joints. A class combines strength, endurance, balance and cardiovascular work.

How is it different from Pilates?

The main difference between Pilates and the Lagree method lies in how muscle tension is managed. Pilates favours control and quality of movement, alternating phases of contraction and release. The Lagree method keeps the muscles under near-constant tension, through a slow rhythm and a sequence of concentric, eccentric and isometric contractions. The results, both aesthetic and muscular, are markedly more pronounced.

How long is a class, and how many people?

A class lasts 50 minutes. It takes six people at most, one per Micro Pro machine: the coach corrects every position, one by one.

Do I need to be sporty to start?

No. The resistance is set machine by machine, so the same class can be followed by a beginner and by an experienced athlete. The small group lets the coach correct each position individually. The €30 trial class exists precisely so you can try with no commitment.

How many classes before I see results?

Most people feel a difference in strength and posture after five to ten classes, at two classes a week. Visible changes usually come between the second and third month of regular practice.

Where is the studio and how do I get there?

RYTHM Lagree Studio is located at JBM Sports, 32 rue du Languedoc, 31000 Toulouse, in the Carmes district, 100 metres from Carmes metro station.

What should I bring for my first class?

Sportswear and grip socks, essential on the Micro Pro. The studio provides them if you do not have any. Plan to arrive ten minutes early to get set up on the machine.

Booking, paying, getting there

The practical side

Do I need to install an app to book?

No. You can also book from a browser, in the studio's online booking space, reachable from the Book page of this site: you create your account and choose your class. The Xplor Active app does the same from your phone, and also lets you keep track of your classes.

What is the studio code in the Xplor Active app?

The studio code is Rythmlagree. You enter it once your account is created, to join the studio and see its classes.

How many times a week should I come?

The coach recommends two classes a week. It is the pace on which the studio's progress landmarks are built. One class a week already brings progress, more slowly; beyond two, talk to the coach.

Do class packs commit me to anything?

No. A pack is used during its validity period, shown on each option: the 5-class pack, for instance, is valid 2 months. Once the classes are used or the period is over, you buy another one, or you don't.

Does the monthly membership commit me?

Yes. Memberships come with a six-month commitment. Class packs, on the other hand, commit you to nothing. A membership is for people who come every week.

Can I pay in instalments?

Yes, on the larger packs: 10 classes (pay in 2 instalments) and 20 classes (pay in 3 instalments). The other options are paid in one go.

Are there classes at the weekend?

On Saturday, yes, at 10:00 and 11:00. There are no classes on Sunday. The schedule changes as the studio fills up: real-time availability is in the booking space.

Is there an opening offer?

No. The €30 trial class is the way to try the method, with no commitment, and it stays available after the opening.

Will the studio change address?

The six machines are installed at JBM Sports, 32 rue du Languedoc, ahead of the opening of the studio's own premises in the Carmes district. The current address is always the one shown on this site and on the studio's Google listing.

Are classes available in English?

Yes. The coach speaks English and can run the class in English, in the same group. Say so when you book, or when you arrive, and the cues will be given in your language. You do not need any French to train at RYTHM.

How do I contact the studio?

By phone on 06 48 78 20 11 (from abroad: +33648782011), on WhatsApp at the same number, by email at Rythm@lagreetoulouse.fr or on Instagram, @rythmlagree. You can also leave your number in the form on the Book page: the studio will call you back, in English.
